Hauptwerk software

The full set of the latest Hauptwerk software (currently version 3.11) is available in two forms:
  1. On CD. This is recommended unless you have a reliable high-speed (broadband) Internet connection and a moderate amount of computer experience. The CD is available from the Crumhorn Labs on-line shop at a modest cost to cover the media, handling and postage. Click on the Hauptwerk v3 trial/update CD item if you want to evaluate Hauptwerk or update to the latest Hauptwerk 3 version.

  2. As a download. Downloads are free. However, you will need a reliable high-speed (broadband) Internet connection to download them, since the files are very large (several hundreds of megabytes). If you don't have a reliable high-speed Internet connection, or you think you might have difficulty downloading the files, please instead order the CD.

Please click here if you wish to download Hauptwerk.

The downloads can be used for evaluation purposes, or to update your existing installation if you have a licence for the appropriate version. Both the latest Hauptwerk 3 and Hauptwerk 2 versions are available for download from the download site, so if you have a licence for version 2, but don't yet want to upgrade to version 3, you can still update to the final Hauptwerk 2 version (2.21).

Both the CD and the downloads include all necessary files and the full automated installer. No previous version of Hauptwerk needs to have been installed on the computer. However, if a lower Hauptwerk 3 or Hauptwerk 2 version is already installed, the installer will automatically update it as necessary.

Important note: If your licence is for version 2 and you do not update your licence for version 3 before installing it, Hauptwerk will revert to running in evaluation mode but allow you to apply the licence upgrade at any time to restore full licensed functionality. A computer can only have one version of Hauptwerk installed on it at any one time. Once a new version has been installed it is not possible to revert to a previous version without un-installing Hauptwerk completely (selecting the option to remove all files) then re-installing the older version, which would wipe any existing settings (unless you restored them from a previous back-up). Hence there is no easy way to revert to a licensed installation once version 3 has been installed other than by purchasing a licence upgrade

Please note: In general, only downloads are provided as a free service to our users. When you purchase a CD you will always be sent the most current version at the time that the order is processed. We are sorry that normally we cannot send updates on CD for free, regardless of when you originally ordered. If you want an update on CD, you need to order the CD via the on-line shop as above.

IMPORTANT: We provide these downloads as services to their creators and to our users, and we cannot provide support for them. Please don't contact Crumhorn Labs directly with questions about these utilities. If you need help please instead try our forum, where other users might be able to assist.
