Using a switch MIDI input to trigger a virtual capture mode switch directly with a MIDI program change and toggling the state with both engaging and disengaging events, causes an infinite loop and crash. Minor bug, since configuration would not be appropriate anyway.

In the St. Anne's, Moseley organ sample set the Swell Tremulant stop is not stored or recalled by the registration sequencer, whilst it should be. Other stops behave correctly, and the tremulant is affected correctly by the divisional and general combinations and crescendo. The error is in the sample set, rather than Hauptwerk itself.

As a workaround, always ensure that no switches are on for crescendo stage 01 (the first column on the crescendo programmer console page). This is the default anyway.

A sample set developer can specifying an option in an organ definition file to prevent the user from disabling interpolation (pitch-shifting). That ability is useful for organs that can only sound at the correct pitch if interpolation is enabled (such as organs that assign a single sample across a range of keys). However it is possible for the user to disable interpolation despite that setting by loading the organ with interpolation enabled and then disabling interpolation.

HW-000456: Installateur: l'emploi de caractères non-anglais ou non alpha-numériques dans un dossier temporaire de Windows peut causer l'affichage d'une alerte 'Insérez un nouveau disque' lors de l'installation (Windows uniquement).
Prior to installation, the installer's files are unpacked to the Windows temporary folder. If the name of that temporary folder contains certain non-English or special characters, during the installation phase the installer may incorrectly give an 'Insert new media' prompt with the message 'Please insert Hauptwerk or select Browse to locate it manually'. Selecting the folder causes the prompt to appear again ad infinitum, preventing further progress. If you encounter this problem, as a work-around, please set the user and system-level Windows 'TEMP' and 'TMP' environment variables to an existing folder with a name containing only English characters, such as 'C:\temp' (create the folder first) using 'Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environment Variables', then reboot the computer. IMPORTANT: if a mistake is made in the process the computer might not be able to boot, so please contact us for advice if you think you may have difficulty or are fairly inexperienced with Windows; an alternative work-around is possible by extracting the files manually using WinRAR. Since this problem appears to be exist in the Java tool used to create the installer, it seems unlikely that we will be able to address this problem. However, it is extremely unlikely to occur for most default Windows installations. In particular, you do not need to change the Windows TEMP and TMP environment variables unless you encounter this problem.

The Hauptwerk Advanced Edition has functionality to drive indicator lamps via MIDI to show Hauptwerk's system statuses, such as whether an organ is loaded or whether an error has occurred. The 'organ loading' status indicator output is currently not working.

HW-000548: Certaines combinaisons particulières d'interrupteurs peuvent être cause de plantage lors de l'activation.
Selecting both 'Defaults to engaged' and 'Override organ default' on the 'General settings | Switch (MIDI) inputs' screen for a switch entry that is configured to trigger a menu function can cause Hauptwerk to crash when activating an organ. Please simply avoid selecting that combination of settings, which would not be appropriate anyway when triggering a menu function since menu functions cannot be selected by default.

It is possible to cause a crash when an organ is loaded by using one of the general settings screens to delete a control that is currently connected to one of the virtual organ controls, for example by using 'General settings | Switch (MIDI) inputs' to delete a switch entry that is currently connected using 'Organ settings | Connect switch (MIDI) inputs to organ switches' to a virtual organ switch for the organ. When no organ is not loaded deletions are handled correctly. As a work-around, please simply ensure that no organ is loaded when deleting entries on the general settings screens.

Some VST host applications can crash (notably Sonar) if you exit from them whilst the Hauptwerk VST plug-in is in the process of loading an organ or installing a sample set. Please simply ensure that you wait until such operations have finished, cancel them, close the host's project or close the Hauptwerk plug-in before closing the host application when an organ is loading or a sample set is being installed. Closing the host is safe at other times, i.e. in normal use.

HW-000679: L'utilisation de caractères non-anglais ou non alpha-numériques dans le dossier d'installation peut empêcher le lancement de Hauptwerk (Mac OS X uniquement).
As a work-around, when installing Hauptwerk, please use only the following characters in the names of the folders you select for installation: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, space, underscore, hyphen. Other characters (such as an umlaut) may be incorrectly encoded into Hauptwerk's XML files by the installer, preventing Hauptwerk from reading the folder names correctly. In such cases you may see error 1108 (XML parsing error) in a file named FileLocations.Hauptwerk.xml when you attempt to launch Hauptwerk. The problem has been fixed in Hauptwerk version 3.00 for Windows PCs (see bug HW-000400), but additional work is needed to address it fully on Mac OS X.

HW-000682: La configuration du clavier des ordinateurs peut passer en mode Dvorak sur les Macs PowerPC G4/G5 Macs tournant sous OS X 10.4 (Mac OS X uniquement).
A few users reported that their Mac OS X keyboard layout had very occasionally changed to the 'Dvorak' layout after running Hauptwerk on PowerPC G4/G5 Macs (uniquement) on OS X 10.4 'Tiger' (uniquement), with Roman-based layouts (e.g. Western European variants) having disappeared from the list of available layouts. Hauptwerk itself never reads or writes any of OS X's settings or files, and, despite a great deal of investigation from both parties, neither Apple nor Crumhorn Labs have been able to reproduce this problem reliably. Both Apple and Crumhorn Labs believe that the problem was actually a bug in OS X 10.4 that was getting triggered as an indirect result of using Hauptwerk and not a bug in Hauptwerk itself. This problem has never been reported on OS X 10.5 'Leopard' or with Intel Macs. For this reason, we advise using OS X Leopard with Hauptwerk if you have a PowerPC G4/G5 Mac. If you don't wish to upgrade to OS X Leopard, as a precautionary measure for OS X 10.4 (uniquement) on PowerPC G4/G5 Macs (uniquement) we recommended installing and running Hauptwerk using a different OS X user account to your main account, so that the keyboard layout settings for your main user account cannot be affected if the issue arises. If the problem has arisen, the correct list of keyboard layouts can be restored by using Finder to navigate to /Library/Caches then deleting each file in that folder with a name starting with 'com.apple.IntlDataCache'. Doing so will cause OS X to regenerate its settings caches correctly.

HW-000683: VSTi: Uniquement pour V-STack et Cubase, le fait de cliquer sur la fenêtre d'accordage, dans la barre des tâches de Windows, la fait flasher mais ne l'active pas (Windows uniquement).
This problem occurs when running Hauptwerk as a VST plug-in instrument within V-STack or Cubase and does not affect other VST hosts. If the voicing screen is open and you switch back to the main virtual console window without closing the voicing window and then try to re-activate the voicing window by clicking on it, or by clicking on its entry in the Windows task bar, the task bar entry flashes but the voicing window is not brought back to the foreground. As a work-around, please instead just use Alt+Tab to switch back to the voicing window when needed. Doing so correctly brings it back to the foreground.

If any problems are encountered during installation/upgrade, Hauptwerk's installer will complete with an error/warning message that includes 'please see the installation log for details'. However, no installation log is created. Please see also bug HW-000884 for the most common cause of upgrade errors and try the work-around suggested for that if applicable.

HW-000882: L'état d'utilisation d'un contrôleur peut devenir incorrect ou ne plus fonctionner après utilisation de versions multiples d'un même orgue.
Une définition d'orgue peut éventuellement comporter des contrôleur virtuels (bascules, curseurs, pédales d'expression, etc.) qui se souviennent de leur état entre deux chargements successifs. Si un tel contrôleur existe dans une version d'une définition d'orgue mais pas dans une autre (à laquelle l'éditeur de la banque de sons aurait assigné le même identifiant ID) et si la position par défaut de ce contrôleur n'est pas off/zero, la position du contrôleur virtuel correspondant peut se trouver mise par défaut, de façon incorrecte, à off/zero lorsque la version de l'orgue contenant ce contrôle est chargée pour la première fois. C'est le cas, en particulier, de quelques curseurs des banques de sons de Sonus Paradisi (ce qui les met par défaut à la valeur affichée de -63), car certains banques de sons de Sonus Paradisi ont plusieurs définitions d'orgue portant le même identifiant mais comportant des contrôleurs virtuels différents. La même cause peut entraîner, pour certaines banques de sons comportant des définitions d'orgues multiples, qu'elles se trouvent muettes si la modélisation du vent a été activée (certaines banques de sons faites par des sociétés tierces gardent en effet en mémoire l'état des contrôleurs des soupapes, entre deux chargements successifs). En fin de compte, si vous rencontrez ce problème après avoir basculé d'une version d'un orgue donné à un autre, chargez cet orgue d'abord avec 'Design tools | Load organ (with design options)', en vérifiant que SEULEMENT l'option 'Reset all control mappings' est cochée à l'écran. En faisant ainsi, les états corrects des contrôleurs seront mémorisés.

HW-000883: Installateur: l'option de lancement au démarrage peut conduire à ce que plusieurs exemplaires de Hauptwerk tournent simultanément après une mise à jour (Windows uniquement).
Il y a une option de l'installateur de Hauptwerk qui permet le lancement automatique de Hauptwerk au démarrage de l'ordinateur. Pour obtenir cela, l'installateur place un raccourci de Hauptwerk dans la fenêtre du groupe d'ouverture au démarrage ('Start | Programs | Startup' pour Windows XP). Toutefois, si vous mettez à jour une installation existante avec cette option sélectionnée et que dans la précédente version elle l'était également, deux raccourcis au moins prévoyant le lancement de Hauptwerk pourraient se trouver placés dans la fenêtre d'ouverture au démarrage; ce qui peur conduire au lancement de deux exemplaires de Hauptwerk simultanément, ou plus, lorsque Windows démarre. Le fait d'avoir deux fois le même programme en cours d'exécution peut corrompre ou écraser des paramètres ou mettre en conflit des périphériques audio ou MIDI. Hauptwerk s'efforce d'empêcher le lancement simultané de plusieurs exemplaires du programme, mais n'y arrive pas toujours, s'ils sont lancés à très bref intervalle l'un de l'autre, ce qui peut arriver au démarrage. En fin de compte, évitez tout simplement de sélectionner l'option de lancement automatique de Hauptwerk au démarrage, si vous mettez à jour une précédente version qui était déjà configurée ainsi. Si le problème s'est déjà produit, effacez SVP les raccourcis en surnombre dans le groupe de démarrage du menu de lancement au démarrage de Windows (pour qu'il n'en reste plus qu'un seul).

HW-000884: Installateur: message 'some errors occurred during the installation' possible après une mise à jour (Windows uniquement).
When upgrading, Hauptwerk's installer calls the previously-installed uninstaller as part of the upgrade process to clean up old versions of files (your settings will not be lost). If the uninstaller from your original installation had become corrupted at any point in the past (most commonly as a result of two instances of the installer having been launched at the same time or in quick succession), the upgrade process might complete with the message 'The installation of Hauptwerk is finished. Some errors occurred during the installation. ...'. If this occurs please use Windows Explorer to delete the following folder completely: 'C:\Program Files\Crumhorn Labs Hauptwerk\UninstallHauptwerk', then re-run the current version of Hauptwerk's installer. Doing so should repair the uninstaller and Hauptwerk's installer should complete successfully this time. We will aim to make the installer more resilient to uninstaller corruption in existing installations for a future version.

HW-000885: VSTi: les circonstances dans lesquelles s'est faite l'importation des paramètres dans une configuration VSTi peuvent conduire à un plantage lors de l'identifications des plug-ins (Windows uniquement).
Depuis la version 3.00, il est devenu techniquement possible et acceptable de déplacer des paramètres d'une configuration Hauptwerk (telle que la configuration stand-alone ou MIDI sequencer) vers une autre (telle que la VSTi). Le mécanisme de sauvegarde/restauration intégré aux version 3.10 et suivantes rend cela très simple à faire. Cependant, si Hauptwerk a été configuré sur l'écran 'General settings | Audio outputs' pour utiliser une sortie audio mono et si les paramètres de cette configuration ont été importés dans la configuration VSTi, il se pourrait que la version VST plug-in de Hauptwerk n'accepte pas de se lancer ou que l'hôte VST plante lorsqu'il va recenser le plug-in VST de Hauptwerk, car la version plug-in VST ne permet pas les sorties audio (il s'agit d'une limitation de l'architecture VST qui impose que le format audio d'un plug-in reste inchangé). Hauptwerk devrait en principe détecter automatiquement les configurations de sortie audio mono et faire la migration correctement lors de l'importation dans la configuration VSTi, mais il ne le fait pas encore actuellement. Pour le moment, assurez-vous que toutes le sorties audio soient bien configurées en stéréo, sur l'écran 'General settings | Audio outputs' dans la configuration source, si vous souhaitez transférer ses paramètres dans la configuration VSTi. Si vous rencontrez ce problème et qu'il en résulte que vous ne puissiez pas démarrer le plug-in VST, utilisez SVP le mécanisme de sauvegarde/restauration d'une des autres configurations, afin de restaurer votre dernière sauvegarde fonctionnelle pour toutes les configurations, ce qui va remettre en état de marche les paramètres de la configuration VSTi.

HW-000887: Installateur: plantage lors de l'installation pour certains Apple Macs tournant sous OS X Leopard (Mac OS X uniquement).
Hauptwerk's installer is a Java application and relies upon the Java system within Mac OS X. A few users have reported to us that the installer freezes on certain Macs, either during its initialisation or during the installation phase (usually when installation shows that UninstallHauptwerk.app is being installed). This appears to occur if OS X's Java installation is not fully current, or has become corrupted, and most commonly on OS X installations that have been upgraded from OS X 10.4 ('Tiger') to OS X 10.5 ('Leopard'). It is thus not believed to be a bug in Hauptwerk's installer, but is listed here for reference. If you experience the problem, please first wait for a few minutes to ensure that the installer has genuinely frozen. Please then ensure that all current OS X updates have been applied (click on the Apple icon at the top-left of your screen, select 'Software Update ...' and allow it to apply all updates, especially any relating to Java). Reboot if any updates were applied. Now use Finder to launch 'Applications/Utilities/Java/Java Preferences'. Set 'Java version' to 'Java SE 6.0' and ensure that 'Java SE 6.0 (64-bit)' is at the top of the list in the 'Java Application Runtime Settings' section. Click Save and close the preferences application, then reboot again for good measure, then try running Hauptwerk's installer again. If the problem still occurs, please also make sure that the latest version of Java is downloaded and (re)installed from Apple's website (go to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ and search for 'java'). At the time of writing (August 2008), the latest update for 64-bit Intel Macs is 'Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1'. Reboot if any updates were applied.

HW-000888: Installateur: dysfonctionnement du pilote de dongle.
Hauptwerk's installer automatically installs/upgrades the driver for Hauptwerk's USB licence key dongle to the latest version available from the manufacturer. However, a few users have reported that, even though no errors were reported by Hauptwerk's installer, the driver had not worked properly after installing Hauptwerk (usually for the first time on a computer), resulting in the light within Hauptwerk's dongle not being lit and/or Hauptwerk incorrectly reporting that no dongle could be found. If you encounter this problem, please temporarily detach the dongle, download and re-install the dongle driver from the manufacturer's website: http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/enduser.aspx then turn the computer off, re-attach the dongle and boot the computer again. The item named 'HASP SRM Run-time GUI Installation' is the file to download for Windows PC, 'Mac OS X Driver Installer' for Apple Macs.

HW-000889: la vélocité MIDI à l'enfoncement des touches (attaque) n'est pas prise en compte actuellement.
Quelques banques de sons utilisent les informations MIDI de vélocité à l'enfoncement des touches (attaques) pour modéliser la réponse de la traction de l'orgue, du clavecin, etc. lorsque les claviers MIDI le permettent. Il existe également des options à la disposition de l'utilisateur, pour désactiver la vélocité MIDI, sur les écrans 'General options'. Toutefois, dans les version 3.10 et 3.11 de Hauptwerk, la vélocité MIDI à l'enfoncement des touches reste ignorée par erreur, ce qui fait que les tuyaux, à cause de cela, se font systématiquement entendre comme s'ils étaient attaquées à pleine vitesse. Lorsque les touches se relèvent (relâchement) la vélocité est correctement interprétée. Nous ne pouvons malheureusement pas vous proposer de remède, mais nous allons travailler là dessus en considérant qu'il s'agit d'un bug hautement prioritaire et tenter d'y remédier dès que possible. Vous voudrez bien nous excuser pour ce problème.
